Shelter TechnologyBALLISTICS TESTED
Our shelters use some of the best technology available, and all equipment can be upgraded. Inside the classroom, is a bulletproof tornado shelter that can save lives. It is made from hardened steel plates with a proprietary patent pending material “sandwiched” between steel plates. This material is what keeps bullets from entering the shelter.
Watch School Superintendent Terry Shaw and Jim Haslem sit inside, while the unit is being shot at with AR-15’s, shotguns, and handguns!
The units have been tested thoroughly tested and offer protection against the following types of weapons:
Handguns
- .44 caliber Magnum
- .45 caliber
- .40 caliber
- 9 mm caliber
- .22 caliber
Rifles
- 5.56 mm caliber (AR-15)
- 7.62 x 39 mm caliber (AK-47)
- .22 caliber
Shotguns
- 12 Gauge (slug)
- 12 Gauge (00 Buckshot)
When it came to testing and being certified, we decided to go to the best testing company available, as this involves children’s lives.
We went with Intertek

We are very proud of the test results of our shelters, and Intertek has given us their approval that our shelters will keep kids safe in most situations! Visit Intertek Ballistics
Ballistics Testing
AK-47 & AR-15 rounds,
fired into Shelter in Place steel.
Cardboard is placed behind the steel being tested. If any fragments get through the steel they will show on the cardboard.
No bullets get through the Shelter!
Strength
Built to withstand E-5 Tornado winds!
Shelter Units are super strong! Made from titanium and hardened steel. We use a patent pending proprietary material to absorb the impact of projectiles.
They will stop most every type of weapon a civilian can get their hands on. The steel units surrounds the students on all sides and the roof. The floor is especially strong as to withstand the horizontal forces created by a tornado. The unit floor is attached to the concrete floor with high strength anchors set in reinforced concrete.
Security
Immediately when the shelter door closes all cameras and microphones (interior and exterior) are activated and begin recording. Our system uses some of the best security recording equipment available. The audio/video signal is easily integrated with the school system, so that in the event of a situation the principle has the ability to assess and monitor the situation live.
Additional equipment also allows the audio/video broadcast to be available to the police. Security system is equipped with a battery backup for up to 3 hours of operation.

Communication
Cell phones work just fine inside the shelter, with the door open or closed. Text messages, video, data, and phone calls all work.
So in the case of an active shooter, Your child can be inside a shelter within seconds, and be able to contact you and say: “Mom/Dad, I’m OK. My whole class is inside the shelter, the door is closed and we are safe. We can see on the monitors what is happening in our classroom, and the principle has told us that the police are on the way, and for us to sit tight.”
With integration with the school’s existing security system, the principle can communicate with the students inside the shelter via speaker and microphone mounted in the interior of the shelter.
Comfort
The shelters are carpeted, have ventilation and an air purification system. They have bench seating, with cushions and can hold 20-30 people. They are equipped inside with “Low Voltage” LED lights embedded in the ceiling, giving easy to read lighting, and also a soothing tone. Lights, and air purification system is equipped with battery backup for up to 3 hours.
Since many of the shelters are used as a study area, the cushions are perfect or a student sitting for 30-45 minutes.
We will do Whatever It Takes to build & install the highest quality most comfortable ballistic strength storm shelter safe rooms to keep kids safe in schools, and to protect others in other environment applications.
